1968-72 Ludwig 'Standard S-100' 14x5" in original Blue Mist

3-ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell with maple reinforcing rings and original ‘Granitone’ interior paint.

Serial number: 15655. No date stamp present.

Fitted with original P83 script strainer, internal dampener, butt end, lugs and tension rods.

Chrome hardware in great condition for its’ age with minimal pitting and scratching.

The shell and the edges are in great condition.

The original Blue Mist wrap is rarely seen. It has faded and shows signs of aging with spots and areas of patching, as these glitter wraps do but it is a wonderful colour rarely seen in drum finishes. The last photo shows the fading, before cleaning.

The badge grommet front has worn away, but the badge is secured in place.

In the late 60s, the Ludwig Standard range was launched to compete with budget level Japanese ranges of the time. This, whilst it was budget at the time, is essentially the same legendary Jazz Festival shell but with different lugs and badge, fitted with a unique wrap that was only available on the Standard range. Grab a bargain whilst you can!

Please see photos for condition.

Freshly stripped, cleaned and polished in my workshop February 2025.

Fitted with brand new Remo Vintage Ambassador and Ambassador Hazy heads with brand new Puresound Custom Pro Steel wires.
